Hydro Pneumatic Rubber Fender
Hydro pneumatic rubber fender is used in semi-submersible platforms, and drilling rigs for a long time. This hydro-pneumatic rubber fender is filled with water and air inside to make it vertically installed against submerged hulls with a counterweight. It’s always regarded as a buffer to reduce shock in between due to its excellent performance of great elasticity and abrasion-resistance.
Fully compliant with the ISO17357 standard, Jerryborg’s hydro pneumatic rubber fender supplies with a variety of specifications and dimensions to meet customer’s requests and different application conditions.
Hydro Pneumatic Rubber Fender Structure
① Outer rubber layer
Hydro pneumatic rubber fenders are covered by the outer layer made of natural rubber. The outer rubber layer uses special compounds that provide additional tensile strength and tear strength to protect the fender from severe weather conditions and frequent use.
② Synthetic-tire-cord layer
The synthetic-tire-cord layer is a composite tire cord with cross shadow lines, which is designed to distribute stress evenly.
③ Inner rubber layer
The inner rubber layer is designed to seal the air inside the fender.

1. Strong Enough against Shear Force
Hydro pneumatic rubber fender is made of reinforced-tire-cord layers which enable it to make it cope against the shear forces and compression forces.
2. Safe and Reliable
The hydro pneumatic rubber fender is made of several strong cord layers to enable it to be pressure-resistant and puncture-resistant. The hydro pneumatic rubber fender whose diameter is over 2.5m is equipped with a safety valve to release the air inside in case it’s overpressured. The diagram below shows the data variations at different percentage compressions.
3. Lower Maintenance Expenses
The maintenance expenses mainly include the cost of checking air leakage and replacing the old chain net. Due to the good performance of pressure-holding, the air leakage can be checked only once a year and the chain net has a lifespan of 3 or 4 years depending on environmental conditions.
