Maritime Floating Rubber Fender For Ship Docking And Mooring Made In China

Maritime Floating Rubber Fender

Maritime floating rubber fender, also called Yokohama fender, has been used in port, harbor, and maritime operations for decades since it was developed in 1958. With the development of ship technology, this maritime floating rubber fender is used extensively in ship-to-ship transfer operations and ship mooring and berthing operations. It’s always regarded as a buffer to reduce shock in between due to its excellent performance of great elasticity and abrasion-resistance.

Fully compliant with the ISO17357 standard, Jerryborg’s maritime floating rubber fender supplies with a variety of specifications and dimensions

to meet customer’s requests and different application conditions.

Maritime Floating Rubber Fender Classification

Maritime floating rubber fenders are produced with two initial pressure ratings, which are pneumatic 50 (P50, initial internal pressure 50kPa) and pneumatic 80 (P80, initial internal pressure 80kPa).

Maritime floating rubber fenders are mainly classified into three types as follows:

1. Maritime Floating Rubber Fender with Chain and Tyre Net

With chain and tire net covering the fender body, the maritime floating rubber fender can reduce the damage of friction and abrasion caused by direct contact. Therefore it’s widely used in places with complicated and unstable tide variation, such as ship-to-ship(STS) and ship-to-dock(STD) operations. In addition, as for the protective tire, Jerryborg offers four types of tires with different sizes and thicknesses for customers to choose from.

2. Sling Type Maritime Floating Rubber Fender

Sling type maritime floating rubber fender will be connected with a guy chain or guy rope with a lifting device on both ends.

3. Hydro Pneumatic Type Maritime Floating Rubber Fender

Hydropneumatic maritime floating rubber fender is usually used as a bumper with submarines and other semi-submersible platforms. It can be installed vertically in the water cause it’s filled with air and water inside and equipped with a counterweight.

All these maritime floating rubber fenders mentioned above are available usually in black, the color is also customized upon your request. Jerryborg offers maritime floating rubber fenders with various sizes in diameter ranging from 500mm to 4500mm, length ranging from 1000mm to 9000mm.

Maritime Floating Rubber Fender Structure

① Outer rubber layer

Maritime floating rubber fenders are covered by the outer layer made of natural rubber. This rubber compound is strong enough to protect the inner layer and synthetic-cord layer from the damage of external forces and severe weather conditions due to its high elasticity and abrasion resistance.

② Synthetic-tire-cord layer

The Synthetic-tire-cord layer is made of synthetic-tire-cord fabrics, compared with synthetic canvas fabric and synthetic belt fabric, this reinforcement layer performs better in fatigue-resistance and pressure-holding.

③ Inner rubber layer

The inner layer is designed to seal the air inside the fender.

Maritime Floating Rubber Fender Advantage

1. Shape Conformant at Inclined Compression

Maritime floating rubber fender is made of reinforced cord layers of high elasticity and flexibility, which enable it to make it shape conformant at inclined compression during ship-to-ship operations. Compared with solid fender and foam fender, the maritime floating rubber fender is easier to distribute the load along the ship's body or berthing structure.

2. Relatively Low Economic Cost

With the advantage of compressive elasticity of air, the surface pressure of maritime floating rubber fenders is completely uniform, which is equal to the internal air pressure and makes it popular with LNG-ship terminals.
